Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at pacificpinesnetballclub@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Your child’s age group is based on the age they turn during that year. Example: If your child turns 10 in 2026, they will play in the U10 division.

We are affiliated with Northern Gold Coast Netball Association (NGCNA). Our NetSetGO! and Junior teams play on Saturdays at the Runaway Bay netball courts. We also have Opens teams playing Wednesday evenings at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre.

NetSetGO! (U7 - U9)

  • NetSetGO! teams are not graded like older age groups. Players are placed into age-appropriate divisions where the focus is on learning, participation, and having fun in a supportive environment.
  • The season runs from after the April school holidays through to late August. It concludes with a NetSetGO! Carnival, held on a Sunday approximately 1–2 weeks after the final game.
  • Games are played on grass courts.
  • Teams have set game times each week, typically scheduled in the morning.
  • Each game consists of four 12-minute quarters and starts on the hour.
  • Games are generally not scheduled during school holidays, except in rare cases where the first Saturday of the holidays may be used for catch-up matches.
  • Due to insurance requirements, U9 players are not permitted to play in the Junior competition.

Juniors (U10 – U16)

  • The U14–U16 age groups are combined and referred to as Inters.
  • The season begins in March and concludes in the first half of September.
  • Grading rounds are held during the first three weeks of the season. During grading teams play multiple half-length games.
  • Games run from 8:00am, with the final game starting at 4:00pm.
  • Each grading game consists of two 12-minute halves and games start every 30 minutes.
  • Once grading is completed, each team is allocated a set weekly game time, subject to court and umpire availability.
  • Regular season games are scheduled between 8:00am and 1:00pm (last game start time).
  • Games are played on hard courts, except for Inters Divisions 1–4, which are played indoors.
  • Regular season games consist of four 12-minute quarters and start on the hour.
  • Games are generally not scheduled during school holidays, except in rare cases where the first Saturday may be used for catch-up matches.

Opens & Social Netball

  • Players must be at least Under 15 to participate.
  • Social competitions are held on Monday or Wednesday evenings at the Arundel Indoor Courts.
  • Opens competitions are played on Wednesday evenings at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre.

While we love seeing younger children interested in netball, NGCNA regulations prevents us from accepting Under 5 and Under 6 players at our club. Please contact Northern Gold Coast Netball Association (NGCNA). Here is a link to their website -  NetSetGO! | Northern Gold Coast

No prior experience is required. New players are placed in teams alongside more experienced players to support learning and skill development.

A Pacific Pines Netball Club netball dress is required. Please refer to the “Where can I purchase Club merchandise?” section below for details.

Footwear:

  • Sturdy running shoes are suitable for NetSetGO! players.
  • Netball-specific shoes are recommended for Juniors and Opens players.

  • Preliminary Finals: Loser Semi Final Game 1 vs Winner Semi Final Game 2

Games are played every 1.5 hours. The game duration is 4 x 12 minute quarters with a 2 minute break between Q1 and Q2, a 3 minute break for Half Time and a 2 minute break between Q3 & Q4.

Game times for Semi-Finals are 8.30am, 10.00am, 11.30am and 1.00pm (subject to change).

Game times for Preliminary and Grand Finals are 8.00am, 9.30am and 11.00am (subject to change).

Players must have played a minimum of five (5) games in that team in the current season to be eligible to play in the finals. Games won by forfeit will count towards the five (5) games required for a player to be eligible for the final series, provided the player was registered with the team at the time of the forfeit.

Players can only play for one team.

Players must have paid all relevant fees owed to NGCNA in full to take the court.

If a team does not have seven (7) registered players available for the finals series due to injury, the club may request approval for one (1) player only from a lower division within their club to play. The request must be submitted in writing to the NGCNA Management Committee with supporting evidence (medical certificate) and the name of the replacement player. The player must have played a minimum of five (5) games for their club during the current season.

Injury Time - Injury and blood stoppages will be timed during the finals series. Extra time will be played immediately at the end of the game. Play is to resume from where the game ended.

Extra Time for Drawn Final Games

In the event of a drawn game in the final series, extra time will be played as follows;

  • Teams will get a three (3) minute break at the end of the game; players may change positions.
  • Teams will rotate ends; play for five (5) minutes; have a one (1) minute half-time break; rotate ends; and play for a further five (5) minutes. Players may change positions at half-time.
  • In the event of a drawn game at the end of the extra time, the match will continue (without rotating ends) until one team gains a two (2) goal advantage. No rolling substitutions are allowed during extra time.
